If you are looking for a traditional Italian tomato variety, you have found it in “San Marzano”. According to ancient legends, this variety was brought to the region around the Italian volcano Vesuvius as a gift from the King of Peru back in 1770.
Characteristics
The medium-sized, elongated fruits ripen to a bright red. There are hardly any seeds to be found in the pulp. This variety also has a low water content - which makes the fruits very crunchy.
The fruits of the tomato variety "San Marzano" are particularly aromatic in their fruity, spicy taste. The elongated tomatoes are particularly easy to make into an aromatic, delicious pizza sauce or sauce.
